The Ladies of the Lake Garden Club

The Ladies of the Lake Garden Club—affectionately known as “LOL”—has been blooming in the Atlanta community since at least the 1930s. Nestled in the charming Peachtree Heights East neighborhood, the club began with a group of women who shared a passion for gardening, a love of nature, and a desire to make their corner of the city just a little more beautiful. Since officially organizing in 1974, LOL has grown from a few green-thumbed neighbors into a vibrant, community-minded group. We still care for the Duck Pond, but we also host neighborhood events, greet new residents, and create lasting connections among the women of Peachtree Heights East. The tools and projects may change, but our mission remains the same: to preserve the natural beauty and joyful spirit of our neighborhood—together.

About Us

The Ladies of the Lake Garden Club (LOL) officially came together in 1974, guided by an elected Board of Directors. In 2011, to better support fundraising efforts like the annual Garden Party, LOL established a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization—The Ladies of the Lake Foundation, Inc.—also led by its own elected Board of Directors.

Our Purpose

At the heart of our club is a commitment to caring for our neighborhood. We’re dedicated to looking after our local parks—raising funds for their upkeep and improvement while also organizing a variety of community events that bring everyone together. We strive to create opportunities for neighborhood women to learn, socialize, and make lasting connections. While our name may suggest we’re all about gardening, the heart of LOL is really about community. We’re a group of neighbors who enjoy spending time together, planning events, and raising funds to help maintain and enhance the privately owned Duck Pond and parks in Peachtree Heights East.
