First, our next meeting is going to be a “Homeless Period Party”.  Here’s an explanation from the  Homeless Period Project website:

You may think of your period as an annoyance but can you imagine not having pads/tampons every month? Did you know that feminine products are the least donated products to homeless shelters? Did you know that many girls in our schools do not have access to these necessities? For many women the implications of living without these necessary supplies are serious… it’s the difference between attending school or work, between peace of mind and humiliation or between infection and health.

So, each LOL member brings a package of tampons or pads, we divvy them up in to “weekly” amounts, repackage and deliver to the shelters and schools.  We have all the information, just need the products and the helping hands.

And about that llama…KarmaFarm! the llama is their logo.  If you haven’t heard, neighbor McCall Wilder and her husband Scott have opened this neat restaurant on Pharr Rd. (west of Peachtree).  For every meal they serve, one is donated to a person in need of a meal…great formula!  And, the food is really good.  Nancy Hunter and I had lunch there today and immediately decided to bring this great cooking to LOL…so food by KarmaFarm and project by Homeless Period Project…we can make a difference ladies!

Please RSVP as McCall needs to order a week ahead.
